Klopp Confirms Henderson Underwent Surgery

Jordan Henderson: Klopp offers update on Liverpool captain's injury

Klopp confirms Henderson underwent surgery

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that captain Jordan Henderson has undergone surgery on a groin injury. The midfielder sustained the injury in the 2-0 win over Newcastle United on August 31st and has not featured for the Reds since.

Henderson could miss up to eight weeks

Klopp said that Henderson is expected to be out for around eight weeks, which would rule him out of Liverpool's next eight Premier League games. The Reds face Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace, Norwich City, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Bournemouth before the next international break in October.

Klopp said: "Hendo had an operation yesterday. It was a small operation but it was necessary. He will be out for a while, I think around eight weeks. It's a big blow for us, but we have to deal with it."

Southgate gives Henderson injury update

England manager Gareth Southgate has also given an update on Henderson's injury. Southgate said that Henderson is "progressing well" and could be in contention for England's upcoming Nations League matches against Italy and Germany in September.

Southgate said: "Jordan is progressing well. He is back in training and we will see how he goes over the next few days. He is not ruled out of the games against Italy and Germany."

Conclusion

Henderson's injury is a major blow for Liverpool, as he is one of the most important players in the team. The Reds will be hoping that he can make a quick recovery and return to action as soon as possible.
