Just Stop Oil and Ultima Generazione Use Art to Raise Awareness

Phoebe Plummer Explains Activists' Goals

Climate activists from Just Stop Oil and Ultima Generazione are drawing attention to the climate crisis by targeting famous works of art.

The most notable incident occurred on October 14th, when two Just Stop Oil activists threw tomato soup on Vincent van Gogh's "Sunflowers" painting.

On Wednesday, Just Stop Oil campaigners sprayed powder paint on the ancient Stonehenge monument in Wiltshire, England.

Phoebe Plummer, a climate activist with Just Stop Oil, explained that the group aims to highlight the urgency of the climate crisis and demand that governments take action.

Just Stop Oil primarily targets pastoral paintings, while Ultima Generazione has focused on sculptures by Italian artists such as Botticelli and Boccioni.
